| Prior to the lesson, set up 2 workinggroups: Wood joining, Making wallpaper
Introduction: Give chn 5 mins at the beginning ofthe lesson to discuss wallpaper designs for the house and choosewhich one they are to use for their room. Show chn the batons that were cut tosize in the previous week and discuss, using black hat thinking,any weaknesses there may be joining the wood in the L shapedjoint as discussed last week. Show the chn how triangles of cardscan be used in the corners, as right-angles (link to this weeksmaths work on angles) to strengthen the joints.
Main Activity: Split each group into pairs and begincarousel. Teacher to work with the chn, joining the framesfor the rooms ensuring health and safety measures arefollowed. 1st carousel group to make squareframe for ceiling, 2nd carousel group to make squareframe for floor, 3rd carousel group to make sideframes.
2nd group: Tomake wallpaper on brown paper.
3rd group: Todraw and annotate the corner joints on the worksheet.
Plenary: Show each of the cubes and discuss the next stepsfor the making of the rooms (Green hat thinking). Each group to look at the strengths andweaknesses of their room so far, using yellow and black hatthinking.
