Lesson 1:
Warm-up
Demonstrate how to throw a ball: Stand sidewayson Hands on side of ball,fingers spread out Swing arms back andforth like a pendulum Release towardsreceiver
Practice throwing the ball to partner. Highlightgood throwing from chd who have mastered throw.
Stand in a circle. Choose a child to run roundthe circle at the same time as throwing the ball around. Seewhether ball can beat runner.
Choose 3 good players to demonstrate running upthe playground passing the ball (up and down the line) Each group to walk it through first, thenjog. - What are some of you doing to ensure that theball is always caught? (accurate throw, moving towardsball..)

| Lesson 2
Introduce chd to tag rugby belts. Ensure theyare fitted correctly, hanging over clothes with tags at sideshanging straight down. Tell chd that this is a no contactgame.
Warm-up- Play stuck-in-the-mud using tag belts.Choose 2 catchers, when they tag someone they are stuck, others gounder arms to free them (tagger must give tag to the owner).
Remind chd of how to pass. Pass in pairs then4s ensuring chd are standing sideways.
Practice running up a court in 4s: Ensure that throwerpasses the ball in line or behind themselves Use a big arm swing tomake the pass to go further
Play piggy in the middle with middle persontrying to intercept ball. Ensure chd are standing sideways to throwand receive.
Chd in house teams, split in half in linesfacing each other (5m apart). Chd in front start with ball, theymust run half way (cones) and then throw ball. Have they moved theirfeet to turn sideways? Have they swung theirarms back before releasing forwards? Are their hands in thecorrect position?

| Lesson 3
Warm-up- Play bulldog where the catcher must tag otherplayers. They must then return the tag to them and then help becomea catcher.
Throw the ball in 4s around the outside ofsquare, chd facing outwards to catch and receive.
Line up horizontally along end of playground.Chd to run passing ball along the line: The person with theball must be in front of everyone else The ball can only bepassed sideways on backwards, never forwards. When the chd have mastered this (extend MA byhaving them running it much faster) they can take iit s tepfurther: When chd have releasedthe ball (on the far left of the line) they run behind otherplayers to the other end of the line ready to catch again (and thiskeeps going)
Small games- teams of 5 (each on 1/3 of netballcourt). Chd must pass the ballto everyone before they can score They can score byplacing the ball on their backline within the court If the ball goes out,the other team take a pass If they are tagged theymust pass within 3 steps or seconds.

Warm-up.
Passing in 2s. Encourage chd to move aroundwhile passing: Show target hands sothrower knows where to pass to Call out so throwerknows you want it Move into space
Defending- explain the importance of defending in thisfast moving game. Remind chd that this is a no contactgame.
Split the playground into 3 columns, with theclass split into 3, 1 line behind each. Then split each column upinto 4 areas and place a child in each. Chd must try to runfrom start to finish without being tagged. Defenders must try topull a tag off of the runner, if they succeed runner goes to backof line. - How have chd managedto get to the end of the area? What are they doing? Highlight movements chd are doing (twists turns,change of speed, direction).
Swap chd over so everyone gets a turn atdefending and running.
Play small game as last week. Encourage chd touse defending skills in the game.

Warm-up.
Passing on the run (as in lesson 3). Expectaccuracy and speed.
Attacking- Tell chd that since this is a fast game thescoreline depends on how many goals can be scored. They must usespace to get through: Run right up to thesides of the area Look to see gapsbetween defenders If there is no gap passto a team-mate
Split the chd in half, in 2 lines at end ofplayground. Place 2 defenders in each column. Chd to go in 2s totry and get to end with ball, using points above.
Once successful put chd in 3s.
Large game using whole area. Split class into 3,1 team off at any time. Encourage supporting each other on the runin case runner is tagged. Remember, mustnt passforwards 3 seconds or steps topass when tagged

Lesson 6
End of unit tournament / assessment lesson. Uselevel descriptors to assist in the assessment. For tournament splitclass into 6 and play small games.
