Read and evaluate awide range of simple persuasive texts, explaining and evaluatingresponses orally. Identify howdifferent texts are organised, including reference texts,magazines, leaflets, on paper and on screen. Begin touse words, pictures and other communication modes to persuadeothers when appropriate to particular writing purpose. Throughrole-play and drama explore particular persuasive scenarios (e.g. aparent persuading a reluctant child to go to bed) and discuss theeffectiveness of different strategies used.

Use librarycatalogue to find and research their sport. Children use the sheetprovided (see plan resources) to start making very basicnotes about their sport. Encourage chn to use the index in theirbooks. They also note down the titles and authors of the books theyused and identify the book they found most useful. In pairs, chnmake notes on their sport using info books and CBBC website.Enlarge the question prompt sheet for chn to refer to if theybecome stuck.
